Job Description Director of Finance & Accounting Setting/Hours:
100% In-Office | Full-time Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Cincinnati, Ohio, that's expanding its Finance team. A growth-focused financial services organization specializing in annuity products, investment management, and innovative financial solutions is seeking a Controller to help scale and strengthen its accounting operations. This leadership role will focus on building efficient close processes, enhancing financial controls, and ensuring accurate, timely reporting to support continued business growth and operational excellence.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Build and lead a high-performing accounting function that supports organizational growth and operational excellence Establish scalable accounting processes, reporting structures, and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency Oversee general ledger operations, reconciliations, and financial close activities to ensure timely and reliable reporting Maintain audit readiness and support regulatory, tax, and compliance requirements across the organization Strengthen financial operations through process improvements, automation, and system optimization initiatives Partner cross-functionally to deliver accurate financial data that supports strategic planning and business decision-making Lead accounting operations in a fast-paced financial services environment focused on scalability, compliance, and performance Develop and implement standardized reporting procedures to enhance consistency, transparency, and financial integrity Manage accounting infrastructure and financial controls while supporting continued business expansion and operational growth Drive operational discipline across accounting, cash management, reporting, and compliance functions to support a scalable finance organization Oversee accounting systems and financial workflows while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes Support long-term organizational success by building a reliable, compliant, and high-performing accounting environment
WHAT YOU BRING
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role Prior experience within the insurance and/or annuities industry required Strong understanding of both STAT and GAAP accounting principles and reporting requirements Proven ability to manage accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Experience overseeing audits, regulatory filings, tax compliance, and internal control environments Strong operational and systems mindset with the ability to improve processes and implement scalable solutions Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading high-performing finance and accounting teams Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence Ability to identify issues proactively, solve problems efficiently, and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight and day-to-day execution Self-starter who operates with urgency, ownership, and a high level of accountability OUTCOME Maintain consistently accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records across all accounting operations Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes are completed accurately and on schedule Establish reliable, repeatable reporting and filing processes that support compliance and operational efficiency Maintain strong visibility and control over cash activity, transactions, and payment processes Build a dependable accounting function that delivers timely, accurate, and decision-ready financial information Strengthen operational consistency through scalable processes, documentation, and internal controls Support business growth by creating accounting operations that scale efficiently alongside the organization Improve financial reporting reliability, transparency, and process accountability across the finance function Ensure accounting systems, controls, and workflows operate cohesively and support long-term organizational objectives Create a stable and efficient financial infrastructure that minimizes risk and supports continued expansion
