Director of Accounting (Relocation Supported) Location Columbus, OH 43201 Date Posted April 22, 2026 Job ID 14341 Employment Type Direct Hire Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Financial Accounting (Relocation Supported) on behalf of a dynamic and growing organization with complex manufacturing and global operations. This is a full-time, onsite leadership opportunity based in Columbus, Ohio.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Financial Accounting (Relocation Supported) will lead the financial reporting function and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and delivering accurate, timely financial insights to executive leadership. This position oversees the accounting team and drives key processes including financial close, reporting, and general ledger management within a complex, multi-entity environment. PERKS

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead financial accounting operations, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with
GAAP/IFRS
  • Maintain and manage the general ledger, chart of accounts, and transaction accuracy
  • Ensure timely and accurate external financial reporting, including regulatory filings
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and evolving standards
  • Manage internal and external audits and serve as primary point of contact for auditors
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls across all financial processes
  • Oversee tax compliance, including federal, state, and local reporting requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on financial strategy and decision-making
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including performance management
  • Oversee cost accounting, including COGS, BOM, SKU, and landed cost analysis
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Tier 1 university preferred); MBA a plus
  • CPA or equivalent professional designation required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting
  • Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams
  • Strong expertise in GAAP or IFRS and financial reporting for complex organizations
  • Experience in manufacturing, food service, restaurant, or similar industries
  • Deep understanding of cost accounting, including COGS, BOM, SKU, and landed cost
  • Experience navigating tariff impacts and cost structures is highly valued
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems, Excel, and data tools
