- Complex multi-entity environment providing diverse technical and operational challenges Position Overview The Compliance Lead will oversee tax and regulatory compliance, audit readiness, financial reporting support, and technical accounting initiatives across multiple affiliated entities.
This individual will serve as a trusted resource to finance leadership while ensuring compliance with evolving federal, state, and local regulations and maintaining best-in-class financial controls and reporting processes. Key Responsibilities Regulatory & Tax Compliance Lead the preparation, review, and filing of complex regulatory and tax filings, including: IRS Form 990 Partnership tax filings Sales and use tax returns Labor and regulatory reporting requirements State and local compliance submissions Monitor emerging tax and regulatory developments and assess organizational impact. Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to ensure compliance requirements are met. Audit & Financial Reporting Manage audit preparation activities and serve as a primary liaison during audit engagements. Support preparation and review of GAAP-compliant financial statements and disclosures. Research and resolve technical accounting issues and reporting matters. Assist with revenue recognition, financial reporting, and accounting policy implementation. Accounting & Operational Support Support month-end close activities, including: Journal entries Balance sheet reconciliations Accruals Financial analysis Evaluate financial processes, controls, and system functionality. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy. Leadership & Process Improvement Promote accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement throughout the finance function. Lead cross-functional initiatives involving finance, operations, compliance, and leadership teams. Develop scalable processes, controls, and reporting structures to support organizational growth. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Active CPA required. 5+ years of progressive accounting, audit, tax, or compliance experience.
Strong hands-on experience with:
IRS Form 990 filings Tax and regulatory compliance Financial statement preparation Audit management Technical accounting research Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience supporting multi-entity organizations and complex compliance environments. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex financial analysis. Preferred Qualifications Public accounting experience within Audit or Tax. Experience with labor organization, nonprofit, association, trust, or multi-entity environments. Experience with Great Plains, cloud-based ERP systems, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools. Exposure to partnership taxation and multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements. Experience leading audits, compliance reviews, and cross-functional projects.
