Director of Accounting Confidential Deerfield Beach, FL 33443 Hybrid work $150,000 a year - Full-time $150,000 a year -
Full-time Position Summary:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing accurate and timely financial statement reporting along with leading the Company's income and indirect tax compliance. The position reports to the VP of Accounting with three direct reports and will have regular interaction with the entire worldwide finance team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, compliance and operational efficiency.
Essential Job Functions:
General
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger analysis.
  • Maintaining and adhering to corporate close calendar.
  • Lead the coordination and execution of external audit and implement audit recommendations
  • Internal and external monthly reporting and compliance packages.
  • Review of consolidated financial statements in compliance with
U.S. GAAP.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting and reporting.
  • Lead the accounting team through new processes and systems or IT implementations, acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment, including the development of operational controls, documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required. Inventory
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cost accounting and inventory accounting policies, procedures and beset practices.
  • Oversee monthly inventory related activities, including reconciliations, purchase price variance analysis, inventory reserve estimates, inventory transfers, and landed cost estimates.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial reporting and operations.
  • Conduct financial analysis related to inventory and COGS to provide insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, perform research on cost accounting questions, and contribute to special projects, as required. Tax
  • Coordinate timely and accurate filings for federal and state income, franchise, and miscellaneous tax returns, estimates, and extensions in collaboration with the external tax advisors (KPMG).
  • Oversee sales and use tax calculations and filings using Avalara platform.
  • Assist in preparation of annual tax provision, financial statement disclosures, and tax audit schedules.
  • Serve as a primary contact for internal and external related tax inquiries/notices.
  • Partner with sales administration to maintain customer sales tax exemption documentation.
  • Research tax and accounting issues for compliance with GAAP, IRS, and other regulatory requirements, as required.
  • Maintain organized tax records and ensure proper document and retention in accordance with regulatory requirements. Requirements/Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting experience; prior experience in a large CPA firm is strongly preferred or company $300+ million revenue.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting reconciliations, month-end close process, cost accounting, taxes, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, technology skills.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • CPA designation preferred.
