Job Description

Job Overview Cove Accounting is an integrated business advisory firm supporting domestic and international companies across corporate formation, bookkeeping, compliance, and legal services. We are building our U.S. Accounting & Tax vertical and are looking for the right person to lead it. This is not a back-office accounting role. This is a founding practice leadership opportunity — designed for a highly motivated CPA who wants to stop maintaining someone else's book of business and start building their own. The difference? We already have the clients. You bring the expertise and the ambition. We provide the infrastructure, the referral pipeline, and the brand. Duties Lead and manage the U.S. Accounting & Tax vertical as its founding Director Serve as the primary client-facing advisor for domestic and foreign-owned U.S. businesses Design and build accounting workflows, compliance systems, and onboarding frameworks from the ground up Select and configure the technology stack — ERPs, tax software, automation tools — on your terms Deliver high-level tax planning, multi-state compliance, M&A advisory, and estate structuring guidance Partner with our sister firm The McHattie Law Firm on transactional and estate matters Identify upsell and cross-referral opportunities across the Cove ecosystem Grow and lead a supporting team as the client base scales Qualifications Active CPA license 4-8 years of public accounting experience at a regional or mid-tier firm Demonstrated experience advising business owners on tax planning, entity structuring, and compliance Strong multi-state tax and compliance knowledge Excellent client communication skills — you can make complex tax issues clear and actionable for founders and executives Ownership mentality — you build things, you don't just maintain them Exposure to M&A due diligence, estate and trust tax, or high-net-worth advisory Experience with foreign-owned U.S. entities, FIRPTA, or cross-border tax matters Familiarity with NetSuite, QuickBooks Advanced, Xero, or similar platforms
