Role:
The Controller & Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function within the organization to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This role leads the development and implementation of accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures to support the company's strategic objectives. The Controller & Director of Accounting manages the accounting team, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth. They collaborate closely with executive leadership to deliver timely financial insights that drive informed business decisions. Ultimately, this position ensures the integrity of financial data and supports the organization's long-term financial health and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical accounting expertise, operational rigor, and business partnership skills. This is a Full-Time, remote position.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting functions. Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for accuracy and completeness. Lead the design and continuous improvement of financial workflows, with a focus on reducing month-end close timelines and automating manual data entry processes. Coordinate and oversee external audits and tax filings, working closely with auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate submissions. Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives. Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to optimize the company's financial position. Ensure the accounting team is trained, motivated, and aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards. Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and best practices to continuously improve financial processes.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license required. Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards. Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems. Proven experience in a small to mid-size organization. Experience with commission automation software. Working knowledge of NetSuite required. Salesforce or comparable CRM for sales data reconciliation.
Preferred:
Experience with Bill.com, Captivate, Stripe, and Maxio. Exposure to private equity or investor-backed environments. M&A integration or system implementation experience. Advanced skills in financial modeling and data analysis tools. Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing change in dynamic environments.
Benefits:
Base Salary:
$175,000-$190,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Annual Performance Bonus:
