Work Schedule Hours varied; Monday-Friday; schedule cannot exceed 19.5 hours/week. Job Summary GateWay Community College is hiring a new Federal Work Study Office Assistant in the Financial Aid Department. If you are eligible, we encourage you to apply today! Additional Information In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job. FWS is a need-based, federally funded program. FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office. FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program. The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals. For more detailed information, please go to the MCCCD Federal Work-Study Website Essential Functions This position will be front-facing, assisting students and parents with financial aid inquiries and application assistance. Other duties include assisting with special projects, responding to student emails, and assisting with outreach events. Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at GateWay, have unmet financial need, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. Desired Qualifications Excellent customer service skills, including a courteous and positive disposition Excellent listening skills, with strong attention to detail Effective oral and written communication skills Experience with and ability to navigate computer databases and basic office equipment, including Microsoft applications, data entry, internet, and chat tools Experience with and ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, and meet project deadlines Special Working Conditions Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
