Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Office of Student Financial Aid Services is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated Financial Aid Officer. This position is responsible for performing all aspects of financial aid processing, including need analysis, determining aid eligibility, completing professional judgments, and coordinating several key processing areas, such as census date aid adjustments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with all aspects of financial aid processing, including reviewing files and documentation, conducting need analysis and packaging, completing queries to ensure accurate aid offers, processing scholarships, and special projects. Responsible for the interpretation of and compliance with Financial Aid regulations governing respective program, formulation of policy guidelines and procedures, and helps to resolve complex problems in one or more areas of specialization. Participates in various outreach activities by serving as a financial aid representative at university open house(s) and other outreach activities. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, statutes, and mandates governing financial aid, and shares updates with the department that may affect areas of primary and secondary responsibility. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Three years of financial aid experience. Knowledge of federal and state regulations that govern the administration of financial aid programs. Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid processes (e.g., FAFSA, Verification, need analysis and packaging). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Independent research and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four to five years of progressively responsible financial aid experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using an automated financial aid system (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.).
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, twelve-month position. The expected salary range for this position is $60,416 to $78,541.
