The Student Success Specialist I is the point of contact to current and prospective students on a wide range of services on all programs and courses offered by the College. Provides information and appropriate services for current and prospective students throughout the enrollment process, including admissions, placement testing, applying for financial aid, advising, and registration.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides academic advisement services to all students, assisting them in planning their educational goals, reviewing the programs of study and their respective requirements, selecting appropriate course work, and reviewing graduation requirements. 2. Advises students on the application process, such as requirements of transcripts, acceptable documents to verify residency for tuition purposes; the financial aid process and requirements, including FAFSA submittal, verification documents, sources of aid and associated responsibilities, acceptance, and deferment of aid; and payment of tuition. 3. Analyzes and interprets departmental or functional requirements for students to enable them to assume increasing self-reliance in re-enrollment processes in subsequent terms. 4. Provides feedback of departmental gaps and operational procedures that impact the student experience from initial contact through re-enrollment and graduation. 5. Assists students and campus visitors with college programs and services. 6. Determines acceptability of all documents required for admission and enrollment for students. 7. Interprets college assessments to students according to established standards and protocols and explains how they determine initial placement in academic programs and courses. 8. Supports students in completing steps to enroll and supports College enrollment management goals through job duties and participation in College events such as Decision Days and College Nights. 9. Refers students to academic departments, tutoring services, counseling, services for students with disabilities, veteran's affairs, career development, and other support services. 10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 2. One year of experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
1. Knowledge of college enrollment functions, including admissions, placement testing, advising, and financial aid applications. 2. Excellent Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of enterprise-wide student information systems. 3. Ability to work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. 4. Strong service excellence skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service. 5. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 6. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 7. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor. 8. Ability to work in a flexible and fast-paced environment, exercising good judgment and discretion without close supervision. 9. Ability to use multiple modes of contact to serve the needs of students including face-to-face interaction, electronic interaction, and interaction via telephone. 10. Clear understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and cultural competence.Work Environment and Special Considerations:
1. Works in an office environment. 2. Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends. 3. Ability to travel between campuses.
