Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Financial Aid, the Senior Officer of Financial Aid is responsible for day-to day activities to administer and oversee of the Stafford Loan program, Massachusetts State program, and the Federal Work Study program, including but not limited to the processing of loan applications; entrance and exit counseling for groups and individuals, reconciliation of EFT rosters, reconciliation of payment rosters, and reconciliation of paper check receipts. Award Federal Work Study funds, place Federal Work Study Students in work assignments, reconcile the Federal Work Study payment roster, and establish community service placements and monthly supervision contacts for all placements.
Educational experience:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Master's degree in higher education preferred.

Ability to work with confidential student financial, academic, and personal information and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Financial Aid experience. Courtesy and willingness to help people solve problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate and represent the mission of a community college. Attend other meetings as necessary and/or assigned. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Highly collaborative and responsive to all College constituents, including faculty, staff, students, families, and community representatives. Strong computer skills with an ability to enter and format information in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to be an independent thinker. Must not be in default on a federal student loan. Possess a valid driver's license.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Aid staff members and work study students.
TRAVEL:
Assignment/ travel between the Quincy and Plymouth campuses as well as the Boston site may be required.
Essential Functions:
Stafford Loan Program Process loan applications Perform entrance and exit counseling for groups and individuals. Reconciliation of EFT rosters Reconciliation of paper check receipts Massachusetts State Programs Massachusetts Grant Massachusetts NIL Completion of Massachusetts Grant certification roster Awarding of Massachusetts Grant Reconciliation of Massachusetts Grant payment roster Processing of Massachusetts NIL applications Perform entrance and exit counseling for groups and individuals. Reconciliation of EFT roster Federal Work Study Program Awarding of FWS funds Placement of FWS students Establishing off-campus placements Establishing community service placements Monthly supervisory contact for all placements Weekly reconciliation of FWS payment roster and reporting Assist the Assistant Vice President of FA in the awarding of aid. Individual counseling with students and parents as needed. Work with Enrollment Services and the Business Office to rectify any student issues. Speak at Open Houses and Financial Aid sessions explaining the benefits of aid award to eligible students. Assist with outreach activities and all recruiting initiatives of prospective students, current students, parents, and all constituents, including information sessions, campus tours, virtual office appointments, zoom sessions, and off-campus visits. Troubleshoot processing problems and technical issues with regard to the COD system and Colleague software and apply corrective action. Consult with appropriate resources when necessary, such as processing support teams. Serve a role in the Business Process Redesign and process improvement initiatives to build efficiencies and automation of processes within Student Financial Services. Leverage the full potential of the COD system, NSLDS information, Powerfaids and Jenzabar functionalities. Responsible for electronic communication with the DOE Title IV Wide Area Network, including download and upload of applications, corrections, NSLDS and PELL grant data in and out of both the DOE and the Jenzabar/Powerfaids systems. Process all Federal loans, ensuring eligibility requirements, reconciliation of award budget dollars, and calculations with consideration to regulations and compliance factors, and institutional policies and procedures. Generate and analyze system-generated data such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal, state and institutional guidelines; notify students of changes in eligibility of awards and, when necessary, alternatives to amend the situation. Maintain foundational knowledge and assist in/with all areas pertaining to student financial aid/admission/ enrollment/registration/business/technical areas. Schedule appointments to meet with prospective and current students to provide comprehensive information to answer their questions, issues, and concerns in all matters relative to financial aid/admission/registration/academic advising/business matters. Assist with outreach activities and all recruiting initiatives of prospective students, current students, parents, and all constituents, including information sessions, campus tours, virtual office appointments, zoom sessions, and off-campus visits. "Walk" students and prospective students through administrative/enrollment (admissions, course election, registration, financial aid, business) processes, providing instructional and technical support as needed. Provide support to the manager of the Financial Aid office. Participate in mandatory training/coursework.
