Job Description

The Part-Time Financial Aid Technician provides technical support and assistance to students and parents with all tasks related to financial aid. This position is responsible for a high volume of inquiries and requires making processing decisions in accordance with federal and state requirements and established office procedures. This position is fully in-person.

Note:
Due to the nature of this role handling sensitive student information, current students at OCC are NOT permitted to apply. Determine student eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid programs based on applicable laws and policies. Explain financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations to students, both prospective and enrolled. Provide excellent customer service, including answering emails and phone messages, and forward complex inquiries to appropriate staff. Assist students with accessing various online federal and state financial aid portals. Help with college events like FAFSA Workshops, Open Houses, and Orientations for students and parents. Maintain knowledge of current financial aid processes, procedures, and regulations through training. Provide general support and assistance with other Financial Aid Office procedures and work collaboratively with team members. Related projects and duties as assigned. Associate's Degree or a High School Diploma combined with at least two years of customer service experience. At least one year of experience in a fast-paced customer service environment. At least two years of recent experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to create standard reports. Experience with a student database, such as Ellucian Colleague. Previous experience working in a college Financial Aid and/or Student Services Office.
