Financial Aid Counselor

Defiance College seeks candidates for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Counselor is responsible for counseling students and families in the financial aid process and processing financial aid applications in accordance with federal, state and institutional regulations. Duties will include financial aid verification and packaging; managing various procedures such as FAFSA, COD, alternative loans transmission, etc.; reviewing financial aid awards with students, explaining payment options and processes; managing the loan default program; present information to the public about financial aid processes; etc. The successful candidate will be technologically confident and willing to learn computer processes for Powerfaids, NSLDS, FAA Access, Scholarnet, ED Express and ED Connect, and other programs. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree. Prior experience in financial aid or admissions is preferred. Some evening and weekend work is required.
