POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office through federal and state aid processing, student service, compliance activities, and administrative support. This position serves as a frontline resource for students, families, faculty, and staff while ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial aid documentation and records in accordance with institutional, federal, and state regulations. This position operates in a professional office environment and requires frequent interaction with students, families, faculty, and staff. Occasional evening or event hours may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Import, review, and process federal and state financial aid records, including ISIRs, entrance counseling, Master Promissory Notes (MPNs), loan documentation, and other federal aid requirements. Review financial aid files for completeness and accuracy in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Certify enrollment rosters and assist with verification and reconciliation processes. Meet individually with students and families to explain financial aid eligibility, award processes, loan requirements, and funding options. Provide frontline customer service as the initial point of contact for walk-in students and visitors. Route and forward emails, documentation, and student inquiries to appropriate staff members when necessary. Maintain accurate student records and ensure timely updates within the institution's student information system. Assist students with FAFSA completion and required financial aid documentation. Support office outreach efforts, events, orientations, and financial literacy initiatives. Collaborate with other campus departments to support student success and retention. Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies. Oversee federal study students and projects. Perform additional duties as assigned to support Financial Aid Office operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information systems/databases. Ability to provide professional and student-centered customer service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree. One to three years of experience in financial aid, higher education administration, student services, or a related Field.
