Job Description

Are you passionate about helping other students and families navigate the financial aid process? Looking for hands-on experience that will boost your resume and give you insight into a unique industry? If you're detail oriented and enjoy helping people, this job is for you! The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is the state's primary agency for managing financial aid programs for students attending colleges, universities and vocational schools across California. CSAC is seeking to hire a Student Assistant to join our Customer Assistance and Processing Unit (CAPU). In this role, you'll provide friendly, accurate and timely customer service in a high-volume environment, helping students, parents and the public learn about financial aid programs such as: Cal Grant California Dream Act Application Middle-Class Scholarship Chafee Grant for Foster Youth Golden State Teacher Grant What you'll do: Answer calls through our automated call system and assist with answering financial aid questions.

Help process student forms and applications. You'll work closely with our CAPU team and report to the Supervising Program Technician II and CAPU Manager. This is a great opportunity to develop communication, problem-solving and customer service skills while making a real difference for students across California.
