Academic Partnerships General Summary The Wrangler Promise Specialist supports Odessa College's mission by guiding prospective and current Wrangler Promise students through the financial aid process to help them maximize federal, state, and scholarship funding. This position provides hands-on assistance withFAFSA/TASFA
completion, scholarship applications, and financial aid eligibility from pledge through enrollment, ensuring students secure all available aid and remain on track for college access and success. The specialist also serves as a key point of contact for Wrangler Promise participants, providing exceptional customer service, answering questions about the program, and maintaining general knowledge of admission requirements and academic programs. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage confidential information, and the capacity to support students and families through the financial aid process with professionalism and care. This role ensures Wrangler Promise students don't fall through the cracks after Year 1, helping Odessa College maximize institutional resources, improve completion rates, and deliver on Vision 2030 goals of access and success. Specific Position Duties Student Funding & Compliance Assist students and families with FAFSA, TASFA, and scholarship applications. Assist with review of current Wrangler Promise student accounts to ensure institutional aid, grants, and scholarships are maximized prior to awarding Promise funds. Assist Financial Aid with monitoring eligibility requirements, funding status, and renewal criteria for all Promise students. Work closely with Financial Aid and Scholarships to prevent over-awards and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules. Maintain documentation and audit-ready records for Promise program funding. Deadline Management Ensure current Promise students meet key deadlines includingFAFSA/TASFA
completion, registration, and maintain required GPA. Maintain communication with students and families through SignalVine, email, and phone support. Cohort Engagement Support pledge tracking, student data management, and timely reporting. Support cohort programming and engagement activities for current Promise students. ConductFAFSA/TASFA
workshops, financial aid nights, presentations, and parent engagement sessions. Coordinate events that reinforce student persistence and belonging. Cross-Department Coordination Serve as liaison between Financial Aid, Admissions & Records, Advising, and Student Life Support special events and outreach activities as needed. Other Duties Supports college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in education, communications, marketing, or related field. Experience in financial aid, outreach, enrollment services, or higher education support preferred. Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills. Comfortable working with student data systems and Microsoft Office.
