Financial Aid Counselor and Progress Appeal Coordinator Application Review Date:

Campus Location:
Radford City - Main Campus Job Description Promote student success by ensuring equitable access to financial aid resources, maintaining regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality, student-centered service. Responsible for supporting students and families throughout the financial aid process by reviewing academic progress cases, coordinating with campus partners, and providing clear, accurate guidance on aid eligibility and requirements. Serves as a key liaison between departments to ensure efficient resolution of student financial aid concerns. Performs additional duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional goals. Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze complex student situations and make informed decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset with cross-departmental coordination experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices, procedures, and office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written policy and procedures, learn new practices and maintain a document processing cycle.
  • Experience with current office software (like Word, Excel, and Outlook) and internet applications.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office.
  • Customer service experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with a student information system and document management system (for example, Banner and Xtender).
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working in financial aid, human resources, or student affairs.
  • Experience with hiring processes.
  • Demonstrated success working in a high-volume, fast-paced office.
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
