No If temporary (or grant funded) position, indicate ending date Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities Join our team as a Financial Aid Counselor and play a vital role in supporting student success through access to financial resources. This position serves as a key liaison between financial aid and athletics while ensuring compliance with federal, state, institutional, and NCAA regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, a commitment to regulatory compliance, and a passion for helping students and families navigate the financial aid process. This role offers the opportunity to manage specialized aid programs, lead critical processing functions, and provide meaningful guidance that directly impacts students' educational journeys.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the liaison between financial aid and athletics, assuring that all NCAA compliance rules and regulations are being adhered to. Manages all aspects of CPOS (Course Program of Study) as it relates to reporting, overrides, notifications, etc. Manages all non-WV state grant programs, ex.
PHEAA, DC TAG
. Manages all aspects of the
WV HEAPS
grant program as it relates to awarding, reconciliation, and reporting. Serve as the primary lead for summer processing for all students enrolled in summer courses. Serve as the department lead for the State of WV appeals for financial aid programs at Fairmont. Provide counseling to students and parents in person and over the phone regarding financial aid eligibility, the application process, awarding and disbursement, and other financial aid areas based on federal, state, and institutional policy. Minimum Required Education Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field. Required Licenses and/or Certifications NA Minimum Required Qualifications A minimum of three years in student financial aid. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Solid proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work extended hours. Preferred Qualifications Solid proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Independent individual who is self motivated and required little to no supervision. Individual who can prioritize and is deadline driven.
