Job Description

Position Information Position Title Financial Analyst for Land-Grant Programs
I,II,III
Status Job Summary Provides financial management, analysis, compliance monitoring, and reporting for research and extension sponsored programs within CAENS. Ensures sound fiscal stewardship, audit readiness, and compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. Essential Job Duties Ensure faculty, staff, and students understand fiscal policies, procedures, and grant requirements. Oversee and support fiscal operations, including budgets, revenue accounts, and personnel-related financial matters. Maintain an internal chart of accounts for all Land-Grant and sponsored projects to monitor balances, spending, and project end dates. Prepare financial status and projection reports for Deans, administrators, and Project Directors. Monitor spending rates and project end dates and proactively notify leadership to prevent over-expenditures and unnecessary no-cost extensions. Review and audit financial transactions (requisitions, purchase orders, vouchers, check requests, and related documents) for allowability, documentation, funding availability, accuracy, and grant period compliance. Ensure compliance with university policies, sponsor regulations, and federal and non-federal grant requirements (including USDA funded projects). Assist and advise faculty and administrators on budget development, revisions, and fiscal planning. Advise leadership and faculty on proposal budget development, including salary allocations, fringe benefits, and indirect costs. Complete and manage proposal routing and submission records with the Office of Sponsored Programs. Maintain time and effort reporting systems and FTE allocations for faculty and staff paid from grants. Maintain a comprehensive Audit Readiness System, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, procurement compliance, and allowable costs. Maintain accurate financial records for facilities projects and subcontracts. Manage student financial support documentation, including scholarships, stipends, and work-study. Coordinate with Budget, Finance, Purchasing, Financial Aid, and Sponsored Programs offices. Attend training, workshops, and meetings to remain current on fiscal and regulatory changes. Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel-related information. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Financial Analyst for Land-Grant Programs l: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 0-3 years of experience in finance, budgeting, grants, or accounting. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in grants management, budgeting, financial analysis, or higher education finance. Financial Analyst for
Land-Grant Programs Ill:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's degree preferable) 5+ years of experience in grants management, financial compliance, budgeting, or higher education financial administration. Demonstrated experience with federal grants and compliance (i.e., USDA, NSF, etc.) Physical Demands Skills and Attributes Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems . Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and sponsor regulations. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
