Job Description:
A rapidly growing investment platform with a strong track record across public markets is looking to add a Long/Short Equity Analyst to its Financials team in San Francisco . The role offers the opportunity to work directly alongside an established Portfolio Manager within a highly entrepreneurial environment that emphasizes autonomy, differentiated research, and meaningful contribution to the investment process. The team takes a concentrated, fundamentally driven approach to investing across the Financials landscape, with flexibility across Banks, Specialty Finance, Insurance, Asset Managers, FinTech, and other diversified financial businesses. This is a high-impact seat for someone looking to operate close to the risk and play an active role in idea generation and portfolio discussions.
Responsibilities:
Conduct deep fundamental research on publicly traded Financials companies Build and maintain detailed financial models, earnings frameworks, and valuation work Generate differentiated long and short investment ideas through primary research and independent analysis Analyze industry trends, competitive positioning, regulatory developments, and macro drivers impacting the sector Participate actively in portfolio discussions, position sizing, and ongoing monitoring of investments Engage with management teams, industry participants, consultants, and alternative data sources to develop variant perspectives Continuously reassess existing positions and identify new opportunities across the coverage universe
Qualifications:
3-6 years of investing experience within public equities, ideally from a hedge fund, long-only asset manager, or public-markets-focused private equity/growth investing environment Prior experience covering Financials required Strong fundamental investing toolkit, including financial modeling, accounting, and valuation analysis Demonstrated passion for equity investing and public markets Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, performance-oriented environment with significant accountability Self-starter mentality with strong intellectual curiosity and attention to detail
