Job DescriptionJob Description About the Role We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Asset Manager to oversee the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of multifamily communities, including both affordable and market-rate assets. The Asset Manager plays a critical role in maximizing asset value by executing business plans, optimizing property performance, and partnering with operations, acquisitions, and development teams. This role combines financial analysis, operational oversight, and strategic planning to drive long-term investment performance. Key Responsibilities Community Performance & Operations Monitor property performance and ensure execution of approved business plans and capital improvement initiatives. Partner with regional and on-site management teams to evaluate operational performance and implement improvements. Conduct regular property visits to review operations, physical conditions, and market positioning. Set and track operational and financial performance goals across the portfolio. Portfolio & Financial Performance Perform monthly financial reviews and variance analysis to evaluate property performance against budget. Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly asset performance reporting for internal stakeholders. Review and approve annual operating and capital budgets for assigned communities. Contribute to long-term financial planning by incorporating projections for revenue growth, expenses, and capital expenditures. Monitor property-level financial performance and identify opportunities to improve NOI and asset value. Market Strategy & Asset Optimization Analyze market data to evaluate competitive positioning, leasing trends, and rent growth assumptions. Identify and execute value-add opportunities, including operational improvements and capital projects. Support underwriting efforts and financial modeling for new acquisitions. Affordable Housing & Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable affordable housing regulatory requirements, including rent limits, tenant certifications, and reporting requirements. Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits to ensure adherence to regulatory programs. Financing, Reporting & Capital Activity Assist with lender reporting requirements and documentation. Monitor and report on capital improvement projects and asset repositioning strategies. Manage major insurance claims in coordination with insurance carriers and adjusters. Asset Acquisitions & Due Diligence Support the acquisition process through due diligence reviews, including property inspections, lease audits, and building systems assessments. Coordinate inspection of major building components such as roofs, siding, plumbing, balconies, asphalt, and landscaping. Collaborate with acquisitions and development teams to develop and execute business plans for new assets. Assist with transition and takeover of newly acquired properties. Team Collaboration & Leadership Work cross-functionally with property management, development, acquisitions, and executive leadership. Lead regular performance review meetings with internal stakeholders. Partner with operations teams to develop and implement asset-specific strategies. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field preferred. Experience 3-5+ years of multifamily asset management experience required Experience managing market-rate and/or affordable housing portfolios Strong financial analysis and portfolio management experience Experience working with acquisitions, development, and capital improvement projects is highly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of financial underwriting and investment return metrics (IRR, NOI, cap rates) Advanced analytical and quantitative skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Self-starter capable of working independently and making strategic decisions Collaborative mindset with strong cross-functional partnership skills High level of professionalism and confidentiality Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Proficiency in
