Job Description
Description We are looking for an entry-level Financial Analyst to support day-to-day financial reporting and data analysis activities in Santa Barbara, California. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for someone who enjoys working with spreadsheets, organizing large sets of information, and helping maintain accurate financial records. The role offers an opportunity to build practical experience in accounting-related analysis while contributing to routine reporting and data review processes.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update recurring spreadsheets to keep financial information organized, current, and easy to review.
- Retrieve scheduled and ad hoc reports from accounting software and other reporting sources for analysis and distribution.
- Clean, sort, and analyze data in Microsoft Excel to support reporting accuracy and business decision-making.
- Review financial information for consistency, identify discrepancies, and escalate issues when needed.
- Assist with accounting support activities related to accruals, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
- Apply data mining methods to examine trends, summarize findings, and improve the usefulness of financial datasets. Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a financial analysis, accounting, or related support role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with formulas, filters, sorting, and large data sets.
- Familiarity with accounting functions and a basic understanding of accrual accounting principles.
- Experience reviewing data for accuracy and supporting audit or compliance-related activities.
- Knowledge of data mining techniques and the ability to interpret financial information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage repetitive reporting tasks effectively.
