Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Cash Reconcilation Specialist to join a contract assignment based in Stamford, Connecticut. This role will focus on resolving a significant backlog of cash reconciliation activity by reviewing high-volume transactions, connecting receipts to applied cash, and identifying discrepancies across large data sets. The position is expected to run for approximately 10 weeks to 3 months and requires an organized, detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a primarily onsite environment while managing accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile cash activity across a substantial backlog of historical transactions and bring records up to date with precision.
  • Match incoming receipts to cash application records and investigate differences to ensure financial data is complete and accurate.
  • Review a large volume of low-value and mid-range customer payments, identifying patterns and resolving unmatched items efficiently.
  • Process and analyze payment activity received through system-generated transactions as well as check payments, following established procedures.
  • Use Excel and Great Plains to organize, track, and validate large amounts of reconciliation data.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to communicate progress, clarify discrepancies, and support resolution efforts.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of reconciliation findings, adjustments, and outstanding exceptions for audit readiness. Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in cash reconciliation, bank reconciliation, or account reconciliation roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume transaction environments with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Hands-on experience linking cash receipts to cash applications and resolving payment discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including working with large data sets and performing detailed financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with Great Plains or similar accounting systems used for reconciliation and cash activity tracking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex transactional information.
  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays during the contract assignment.
