Job Description

Overview This is a 2-year assignment.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The Senior Financial Analyst plans, organizes, and executes key accounting activities while supporting the accuracy and timeliness of the Company's financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable Hawaii PUC/state regulatory and tax requirements. This role also oversees compliance-related matters, interprets new accounting standards, develops accounting policies and position papers, and collaborates with a wide range of personnel across the Company. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the preparation and completion of the monthly corporate Report Pack which includes: Financial statements and other financial information Variance analysis of various financial statements and other financial information Statistical information EBITDA and other financial calculations Ensures the accuracy of the overall information contained in the monthly Report Pack. Coordinates with cross-functional teams across the company to obtain necessary input and disclosure support for preparing the Report Pack and other quarterly financial, compliance, and due diligence reports. Collects, compiles, reviews, and analyzes data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Responsible for providing financial information to internal management team, parent company asset management, accountants and others. Research new accounting standards and guidance, develops policies and position papers for implementation, and ensures proper accounting treatment and financial reporting of transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and parent company requirements. Provides accounting guidance and support across all levels and departments of the Company, including IT and project implementation teams. Reviews and Implements Company's internal control structure over financial reporting. Supports the preparation of rate case testimony, exhibits, and supporting workpapers, as needed.
OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis. Comply with all applicable Hawaii Gas policies and procedures. Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner. Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent related work experience may be considered.
Required Work Experience:
At least 3 years of finance and accounting experience with progressive responsibilities. Understanding internal controls, risk assessment practices and change management. Knowledge of
U.S. GAAP
rules and regulations, including
U.S. GAAP
disclosure and reporting requirements. Excellent working knowledge and experience with Microsoft suite of tools (specifically, Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Work Experience :
Experience in an accounting role within a regulated utility, energy, or petroleum processing company. External or internal audit experience with a public accounting firm. Experience working with Great Plains or similar financial software programs/applications.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:
CPA license (can be in inactive status).
