Job Description

Position Title:
Financial Analyst I/II -
Accounting & Finance Location:
Des Moines, IA, United States Description:
This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise. The financial analyst responsibilities include compiling and preparing financial reports (monthly forecasts, quarterly current estimates, and ten-year plan); providing meaningful and concise variance analysis of actual performance compared to plans, forecasts and prior periods; serving as a liaison to Operations' management and budget coordinators; financial modeling development and analysis; supporting regulatory filings; assisting with sensitivity analysis and other financial analysis completed by the department as needed.
Responsibilities:
Liaise with various region and department management and staff and finance and accounting staff.
Compile and prepare financial reports:
reporting cycles include monthly forecasts, quarterly current estimates and developing a ten-year financial plan each year. Liaise with field administrative analysts for analysis as needed. Provide meaningful and concise variance analysis of actual performance compared to plans, forecasts and prior periods. Perform special projects and analysis as required. Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics or finance or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) 1+ years of related experience for the financial analyst I role. 2+ years of related experience for the financial analyst II role. Strong research and analytical skills; knowledge of financial analysis methods and tools. Good understanding of accounting financial statements to facilitate modeling. Excellent Excel skills needed for financial modeling. Working knowledge of Access, Oracle, Excel and PowerPoint. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
