Description Incumbent serves as Financial Coordinator for the Vigo County Auditor's Office with responsibilities for maintaining accurate financial records of the County. Examples of Duties Coordinates and records official meetings for Commissioners, County Council, and Capital Improvement Board, including preparation of agendas, meeting packets, minutes, ordinances, and resolutions while maintaining accurate records and documentation. Maintains and organizes official county records, contracts, leases, ordinances, resolutions, bid materials, financial documentation, and inventory records while ensuring compliance with county and state reporting requirements. Assists with financial operations including processing claims and check runs, preparing annual financial reports, supporting year-end close activities, completing census and statewide reports, and collaborating with State Board of Accounts auditors during annual audits. Performing tasks assigned by the Auditor, Chief Deputy Auditor, and Financial Supervisor and performs related work as apparent or assigned. Typical Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with 3 or more years' experience with payroll, accounting and budget experience. Baccalaureate degree in accounting or related field preferred. Thorough knowledge of accounting systems and requirements and regulating/auditing agencies, with ability to perform arithmetic operations to maintain complete and accurate accounting records, and compile timely and accurate ledgers and other financial reports. Knowledge of grant and budget administration, fund accounting and Indiana Code. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, Indiana State Board of Accounts, Department of Local Government Finance, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department records and information according to state requirements. Ability to understand, memorize, retain and carry out oral and written instructions and present findings in oral or written form. Ability to compare or observe similarities and differences in data, compile, collate, or classify data, analyze and evaluate, and make determinations based on data analyses. Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment. Ability to occasionally work extended hours, and occasionally travel out of town for conferences, sometimes overnight. Supplemental Information Incumbent performs standard, recurring duties according to Department policies and practices with work priorities primarily determined by service needs of the public and/or seasonal deadlines. Assignments are guided by definite objectives using a variety of methods or procedures. On rare occasions, decisions are made in the absence of specific policies and procedures, and/or guidance from supervisor. Work errors are primarily detected or prevented through legally defined procedures, supervisory review and/or notification from other departments or agencies. Undetected errors could result in loss of time and money to department, and inconvenience to other agencies or the public. Incumbent maintains contact with co-workers, other County departments, attorneys, title companies, and the public for the purpose of exchanging information. Incumbent reports directly to Financial Supervisor, Chief Deputy and Auditor. Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment, involving sitting/walking at will, bending, reaching, keyboarding, lifting/carrying objects weighing less than 25 pounds, close/far vision, color/depth perception, speaking clearly, and hearing sounds/communication.
