Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our headquarters location in Bismarck, ND and is not a remote position. This position is open to varying levels based on experience. Supports the Cooperative's financial and investor relations functions by performing foundational analytical work. Builds financial and sensitivity models, conducts research, and prepares analysis that helps inform management decisions. Works with internal teams and external experts to incorporate key assumptions into project evaluations and provides analytical support to divisional initiatives as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Supports with preparation and communication of credit update materials for financial stakeholders and bond rating agencies.
  • Supports with preparation of bond offering documents, investor presentations, diligence requests, and loan documents.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of investor relations database and assists in responding to investor inquiries
  • Assists in financial analysis and communicates the risks and rewards of a project or initiative to internal and external stakeholders, as applicable.
  • Assists in maintenance of quantitative and qualitative models to perform economic analysis on strategic initiatives directed by senior management and the Board of directors, investment opportunities, capital expenditures, comparative analysis, stress scenarios, operational decisions, and asset valuations.
  • Creates sensitivity scenarios within these models to determine financial impacts. Utilizes the model outcomes to make recommendations and provide directions to management on strategic decisions critical to the ongoing success of Basin Electric and its subsidiaries.
  • Coordinates with internal teams and subject matter experts to incorporate operational, market, and financial assumptions into models and analyses.
  • Applies standard qualitative and quantitative analysis based on metrics and methodologies accepted and supported within the financial community.
  • Utilizes market research and resources to monitor market trends, consume market data and apply analysis that leads to decision-lending information.
  • Assists in the annual calculation of the weighted average cost of capital (WACC)/hurdle rate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, mathematics, or related field.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building. It includes occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, frequent use of a keyboard, computer, and other office productivity machinery. The role requires finger dexterity, hand coordination, and the ability to bend, kneel, lift/carry up to 10 pounds, and push/pull up to 20 pounds.
