Business Finance Senior Analyst II (E6129)

Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to provide financial support for multiple OUs. The individual is responsible for preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts as well as analyzing monthly financial results, highlighting operational variances, and identifying and resolving issues. This position works with all levels of management and serves as the primary contract for finance issues. They are responsible for identifying and suggesting financial management process improvements in support of their customers. This individual contributor role reports to the Senior Manager of Business Finance. They act as the subject matter expert (SME) for financial related activities, working independently to complete most tasks with minimal supervision. The incumbent will have the ability to collaborate across Finance and other organizational units (OUs). They prepare reports and perform analysis for senior staff and volunteer leadership. Data accuracy is paramount to the presentations that the Senior Manager will typically prepare and present from this analyst's work effort. Key Responsibilities Support finances for multiple organizational units including budget & forecasting, financial reporting, ad hoc analysis, and all areas of expense and capital items. Reconciles and maintains budget and forecast supporting schedules including categorizing and tracking updates by major line of business, prepaid expenses, OU chargebacks, accruals and miscellaneous journal entries. Consolidates and analyzes financial trends by operational spending and key budget categories. Streamline processes and ensures tools used to develop financials are efficient (Excel spreadsheets, Oracle) which involves working closely with IEEE Financial Planning & Analysis and IT staff, while automating processes and leveraging AI tools to reduce manual work. Monitors the financials to ensure all policies and procedures are followed and to ensure actual expenditure is in line with budget and/or forecast; Partners with the Accounting team to understand results streams and to ensure accuracy. Manages cost centers including coding structure, understanding key accounts and cost center ownership; Works to streamline the use of the chart of accounts to increase efficiency; understands the flow of accounting. Creates or updates standard operating procedures for OU documentation. Work with business operations staff to support the financial needs of their OU.
