Job Description

Posting Details New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) provides a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public while promoting economic development and preserving New Mexico's environment.

As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrate leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Why does the job exist? Position will process financial documents, bulk, and per-diem through Share. Position will audit financial documents and per-diem. Position will prepare special reports using PC based applications. How does it get done? This position will pre-audit financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position will ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely audits of financial transactions while maintaining compliance of New Mexico Department of Transportation and Department of Finance and Administration's rules and regulations, assuring proper posting of expenditures. Provide guidance to New Mexico Department of Transportation staff on financial policies and procedures as well as any additional duties assigned. Who are the customers? New Mexico Department of Transportation management, staff, and stakeholders. Ideal Candidate New Mexico Department of Transportation management, staff, and stakeholders. Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, office administration, auditing, accounting, and/or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Business/Personal Reference check and Driver's License verification are required and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling.
