X 5 Days| 4 days onsite and 1 day remote Help Shape the Financial Future of a Growing Utility Peoples Gas is seeking an experienced Finance Lead Analyst to support operational excellence in a dynamic, highly regulated utility environment. In this role, you will partner closely with business leaders, and help guide the company through short‑ and long‑term financial planning and annual and multi-year operations budgets and forecasts. This opportunity is ideal for a strategic financial professional who enjoys working across the business, turning data into insight, and influencing decisions that matter. What You'll Do You'll play a key role in annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning, with increasing scope and leadership. Core Responsibilities Budgeting and Forecasting. Facilitate and independently prepare significant portions of the annual budget and monthly reforecasts Cost Control. Work closely with management on cost tracking and cost management efforts. Variance Analysis and Reporting. Facilitate the preparation of the monthly budget/forecast/actual variance analysis reports, month-end financial results package, along with other operational/efficiency reports. Analyze results and prepare an events analysis summary, monthly variance explanations and a view for the remainder of the year (risks/ opportunities; timing/ permanent).efficiency and improvement. Business Area Communications. Communicate to Business Partners (operational areas) and Team Members regarding financial matters, cost management and areas for improvement. Company O&M, Capital & other income statement & balance sheet components. Assist the company in its accumulation and decision-making related to all O&M, Capital, and their respective income statement and balance sheet componentsMentorship of junior team members Mentorship of junior team members. What Success Looks Like Accurate, timely budgets and forecasts trusted by business leaders Clear financial insights that shape operational and capital decisions Strong partnerships with operations, strategy, regulatory, and finance teams Proactive identification of risks, opportunities, and cost‑control strategies What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university 5+ years of accounting/financial experience or other relevant experience Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced environment Sound judgment, attention to detail, and comfort working with senior leaders Preferred Qualifications CPA (active or in progress) Experience with systems such as SAP, PowerPlan, and/or workk management Knowledge of utility operations, utility accounting, or regulatory environments Skills That Will Help You Thrive Financial modeling & variance analysis Budgeting, forecasting & long‑range planning Cost control & profitability analysis Executive‑level communication & data storytelling Cross‑functional collaboration & influence Strategic thinking in complex environments Why Join Peoples Gas?
