DETAILS ABOUT THE FINANCIAL ANALYST
Overview We are seeking a highly analytical Accounting or Financial Analyst to support a complex, high-volume accounts payable environment within a hospital or university setting. This role goes beyond transactional invoice processing and requires a professional with strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to identify process improvements, resolve complex issues, and support operational reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience working in large-scale financial environments, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and demonstrate a solid understanding of the full accounts payable lifecycle. This position offers long-term potential and may convert to a full-time opportunity. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable Operations Manage a high volume of invoices and ensure timely and accurate payment processing. Review, code, and process invoices and credit memos in accordance with organizational policies. Obtain appropriate approvals and verify invoices for budget compliance and accuracy. Research, analyze, and resolve complex invoice discrepancies, unpaid invoices, and electronic invoice issues. Review and approve payment requests while ensuring complete and accurate supporting documentation. Maintain and organize AP-related documentation and records. Financial Analysis & Reporting Create, run, and analyze operational, departmental, and ad hoc reports. Monitor AP workflows, work queues, and service-level agreement (SLA) compliance. Perform reconciliations and identify trends, variances, and process improvement opportunities. Support financial reporting and operational analysis initiatives. Utilize Excel and ERP reporting tools to manage large data sets and provide actionable insights. Compliance & Policy Support Ensure compliance with procure-to-pay policies and internal controls. Review transactions for sales and use tax applicability. Identify transactions subject to 1099 reporting requirements. Provide guidance to internal departments regarding AP policies, procedures, and best practices. Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Customer Service & Collaboration Partner with finance, procurement, operational departments, and vendors to resolve payment and invoice-related issues. Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders and external vendors. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support efficient financial operations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Experience in a hospital, healthcare, university, or large institutional environment. Strong understanding of the full accounts payable lifecycle. Experience with invoice processing, coding, payment processing, reconciliations, and reporting. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Stable work history with demonstrated longevity in previous roles. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle Financials Cloud (Oracle Fusion Cloud) . Experience with GHX (Global Healthcare Exchange) . Prior experience supporting healthcare systems, hospitals, universities, or large shared-service environments. Experience with process improvement initiatives and operational reporting. Knowledge of sales/use tax regulations and 1099 reporting requirements. What We're Looking For Strong Accounts Payable Analysts with accounting and analytical depth. What We're NOT Looking For Accounts Payable Clerks, Specialists, or Processors whose experience is primarily: Invoice entry Three-way matching Check runs High-volume transaction processing without analytical responsibilities Candidates with limited accounting or finance experience. Candidates without a bachelor's degree. Professionals lacking experience with reconciliations, reporting, process improvement, or financial analysis. Candidates with heavily contract-based or unstable work histories. Technical Skills Oracle Financials Cloud (Oracle Fusion Cloud) preferred GHX preferred Large ERP system experience required Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency) Financial reporting and data analysis tools Procure-to-pay systems and workflows
