Job Summary:
The University Information Technology Services (UITS) department of the University of Massachusetts is seeking a UMass student to serve as a Finance Applications Intern who wants to become part of an dynamic team of technology professionals supporting the institution's mission, "To enable UMASS to provide an affordable and accessible education of high quality and to conduct programs of research and public service that advance knowledge and improve the lives of the people of the Commonwealth, the nation and the world." We are embracing cloud architecture, DevOps, automation and agile development. We support a highly distributed and diverse environment for mission-critical systems for multiple campuses. We embrace a culture of continuous learning by fostering a growth mindset and working together to solve hard business and technology challenges, with strong leadership and coordination from the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and direct report units. This internship has a pay rate of $17 per hour. In addition to being paid, academic credit may also be available.
Essential Functions:
The Finance Application Intern has the following responsibilities: Assist the Financials and Research management teams with ERP-related analysis, documentation, and support Analyze business requirements and develop solutions to finance and administrative business problems Gather, refine, and document requirements and user stories related to financial systems and processes Create and maintain documentation for financial application workflows and configurations Assist in functional testing of financial system updates and enhancements Support data analysis and reporting for finance applications Create and maintain business process models for financial operations Assist with other projects as needed Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience): Current UMass student who is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study GPA of 3.0 or higher Curious, motivated and willingness to learn new technologies and skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when interacting with staff. Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience): Coursework or experience in finance, accounting, business administration, or information systems Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, or similar) Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel or SQL Knowledge of business process documentation methods
