The Senior Financial Analyst is responsibleto design and prepare financial analyses and modeling related to academic or business strategic initiatives, proposals, and other ad hocdata requests. The Senior Financial Analyst assembles, analyzes, summarizes, and forecasts financial, economic and other data and overseesand reports on unique funding plans for programmatic initiatives. This role determines strategies for managing resources to capitalize onfunding opportunities, advance priority initiatives, and identify operational efficiencies and presents findings and analyses in formatsappropriate for senior and executive management. The Senior Financial Analyst participates on project teams and committees to bringfinancial and data analysis leadership and perspective to the team and may mentor other staff to increase their skills. The SeniorFinancial Analyst serves as the liaison between the accounting and finance functions that support Purdue University Global and variousdepartments and schools within the university. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and includes a virtual worklocation. What to expect in this role: Day-to-day financial reporting and analysis for assignedfunctional areas: Under general supervision, is responsible for financial analyses, forecasting, and budgetaryprocesses Research and resolve Business Unit(s) inquiries for assigned functional areas. Routine communication withSupervisors relating to financial close, issues, and deliverables Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close forassigned functional areas Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations. Complete and submit PG Consolidation ℜporting Deliverables Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the periodic management reporting of financial results forassigned functional areas Prepare journal entries related to assigned functional responsibilities Provides decision supportacross all business unitsInquiries and Reporting:
Prepare all Financial Reportingrequirements package Perform account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting schedulesas needed Provide financial and operation advise - both routine as well as ad-hoc - to Senior Management Prepare allFinancial Reporting requirements package Provides decision support across all business units Responds to financial inquiriesand requests such as, but not limited to, audited financials, approved budgets, ad hoc or special reports, or forecasts. Preparesand processes month-end, quarter-end and year-end closes by collecting data, analyzing, and investigating variances, and summarizing dataand trends. Prepares and analyzes periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned functional areas (support centerP&Ls).Special Projects:
Responsible for performing special projects to improve processefficiency and performance Cross train as back-ups for other staff in the case of emergencies Increases productivity byautomating applications, eliminating duplications, and coordinating information requirements Other duties as assigned to accomplishthe objectives of the finance department.Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field 4-5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis or otherrelevant experiencePreferred:
Certified Public Accountant Experience working withnon-profit or higher education, especially in online education Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)system Advanced proficiency in business applications, especially spreadsheets Advanced knowledge of financial, datamanagement, and reporting systems Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting StandardsBoard (GASB) requirements What we're looking for: Strong project management skills and ability tocontribute to or lead part of a multi-functional team Must be able to perform all of the relevant duties of the position with onlygeneral supervision and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines. Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs,specifically Excel and Powerpoint as well as Google applications such as Gmail, Chat, Hangout and shared drives. Experience withSAP, Oracle or related financial systems is helpful, but not required. Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure,changing environment. Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently. Advanced professional interpersonal andwritten/verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information tointernal and external audiences and executive management Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information withdiscretion. Capable of building strong working relationships across teams, departments and Schools.AdditionalInformation:
