Job Description

Position Overview Burlington invests significantly each year to control and reduce retail theft and shortage. The primary objective of the Sr. Financial Analyst is to focus on the accurate and timely analysis and reporting of the company's physical inventory count results in both Store and DC locations. The role will reside within the Finance Inventory Control Department and will provide support to the Field, DC, Merchandising, and Corporate Shortage Control/Asset Protection teams. The role will provide shortage analysis and reporting based on the Physical Inventory count results for all Store and DC related activities, as well as reporting on other areas such as mark-out-of stock and markdowns. This position requires a highly motivated candidate with strong analytical, process management, quantitative, and technical skills to aid in the development of overall results reporting. Further, the role is expected to provide shortage analysis and reporting to assist in identifying and designing process and operational improvements to reduce and improve shortage results through data insights and by understanding the drivers of merchandise shortage across the company. The Sr FA in conjunction with IC Management will partner closely with the Shortage Control Department to develop and present findings following each inventory cycle with the aim of influencing root causes of shortage and recommending on-going areas for improvement. They will be expected to assist in presenting all findings and recommendations in a clear and actionable manner to the Cross Functional Senior Management team. They will assist in projecting future shortage rates based on recent trends and expected results from current initiatives. A Day In The Life Responsible for clear and accurate presentation of results and recommendations to management following each inventory, including key metrics, changes in performance and key findings Coordinate Physical Inventory Reconciliations and analysis in addition to coordinating timing, execution and reporting of physical inventory Provide shrink reporting and analytics to Executive team and business partners Develop and maintain partner relationships with business units and corporate stakeholders (IT, Shortage Control, Asset Protection, Merchandising, Finance, DC, Logistics, etc.) Seek out process efficiencies and improvements Create Value-added reporting including KPI's and Monthly Reporting Metrics Propose new ideas and opportunities for reducing shortage based on performance trends and industry developments. Stay up to date on industry trends in shortage. Demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls and apply them to daily functions Collaboratively work with other business partners You'll Come With Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance 3-4 years inventory / accounting background, concentration in data analytics and reporting. Retail experience with shortage focus strongly preferred Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Passion for data, analytics and pushing business innovation. Understanding of business, accounting and inventory policies as it relates to Retail Shortage Demonstrated understanding of the inventory flow and inventory accounting policies Skilled at financial analysis, recognizing trends and communicating results Excellent written and verbal communication with emphasis on strong interpersonal skills. Experience working with multiple levels of management and in cross-functional environments. Proven ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to drive projects to completion.
