Job Description

COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION COST ANALYST COLUMBIA, SC POSITION OVERVIEW
An established company in Columbia, SC is in need of a Commercial Construction Cost Analyst to enhance their team. This role involves evaluating project documentation, conducting detailed cost assessments , and crafting thorough estimates for competitive bids. The Cost Analyst will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of bids while fostering strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Ideal candidates will excel in a dynamic setting, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and contribute a collaborative approach to preconstruction efforts.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Examine project blueprints, plans, and specifications to verify comprehensive scopes of work. Identify and assess risk factors and develop strategies to mitigate them during the bidding process. Oversee responses to bid invitations and coordinate bid submissions. Conduct detailed cost assessments and quantity takeoffs for specified trades. Work collaboratively on conceptual budgets and initial pricing activities with managers. Create bid tab sheets, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and compile bid summaries. Draft trade-specific qualifications and exclusions for bid packages. Nurture and expand subcontractor and supplier relationships to ensure alignment with company standards and client needs. Engage in industry networking events to broaden subcontractor contacts and market insight. Facilitate seamless transition of awarded projects to the project management team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Minimum of 5 years' experience in estimating within commercial construction. Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff and other estimating software tools. Solid mathematical, analytical, and computer skills. Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) . Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work across departments.
