Job Description

Overview:
ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Accounting Analyst III assists in providing financial guidance and analytical support within the Finance Department, including system administration and development (e.g., online journal entries, general ledger, and property systems). Responsibilities include planning and analyzing complex financial issues such as fuel transactions, taxes, and debt issuances or refinancing, as well as supporting special projects. The role also involves cash and cost budgeting and monitoring for employee benefits, debt service, depreciation, and overhead allocations; maintaining project ledgers; and preparing a variety of monthly and annual financial reports, surveys, financial statements, and tax certifications. This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.
Pay range:
$44.55 - $69.51

Provide specialized technical accounting support for the development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of financial systems (online journal entry, general ledger, etc.) and supporting databases for functions such as budget, cost accounting, inventory, asset management, travel, and payroll Apply accounting principles gained through education and experience Interpret and apply Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements to activities Prepare monthly reports, as well as monthly and annual financial statements, special financial reports, tax certifications, and surveys in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and all state and federal laws Develop analyses from system-generated reports to explain accounting trends and budget variances Apply accounting knowledge to report design and required financial disclosures Conduct research and analysis on special financial issues, including refunds, tax matters, nuclear fuel transactions, workers' compensation, inventory, and property management Assist in developing financial strategies Maintain ledgers for all facilities in accordance with FERC and generally accepted accounting procedures, including preparing account reconciliations and journal entries Assist in the preparation of financial policies and procedures for the Finance manual Interface with internal managers and supervisors, as well as external agencies
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university (related field must include an emphasis in accounting); OR Associate's degree with 10 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and/or finance; OR High school diploma (or equivalent) with 14 years of related experience Possess progressively responsible experience with monthly and annual financial closing processes, including related compliance and financial audit activities Demonstrate familiarity with annual financial close processes and financial/compliance audit requirements Maintain knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable state and federal tax laws Demonstrate strong personal computer skills Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, selecting the most appropriate method based on the audience and situation Collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization Apply strong analytical skills to evaluate multiple potential solutions and present recommendations to team members or management for decision-making Ability to recognize and assess challenges and escalate issues to the appropriate level when necessary Work sponsorship is not available at this time.
