Technical Accounting Manager Robert Half - 3.9 Huntsville, AL Job Details Temp-to-hire | Contract $59.38 - $68.75 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Disability insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description We are looking for an experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join a high-tech pharm/biotech organization in Huntsville, Alabama. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is suited for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can evaluate complex accounting matters, provide clear guidance on reporting treatment, and support sound business decisions in a fast-moving environment. The role will work across multiple teams to strengthen accounting policies, document conclusions, and help ensure accurate external and internal financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate complex accounting matters and determine appropriate treatment under applicable U.S. accounting guidance. Prepare well-supported technical position papers and related documentation for significant transactions and reporting decisions. Oversee accounting analysis for areas such as revenue arrangements, lease transactions, business combinations, and financing activities. Partner with teams across finance, legal, tax, and operations to review contracts and advise on the accounting impact of strategic initiatives. Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting activities, including support for required disclosures and filing preparation where applicable. Develop, refine, and implement accounting policies to promote consistent application across the organization. Assist internal and external audit efforts by addressing technical questions and providing clear supporting documentation. Track new and proposed accounting guidance, assess business impact, and recommend necessary changes. Support special projects involving process enhancement, internal controls, and accounting-related system implementations. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; an advanced degree is preferred. At least 5 years of experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both. Strong command of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles. Hands-on experience with technical accounting topics such as revenue recognition, leases, and business combinations. Background supporting audits, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes. Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with major ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite is helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical accounting issues clearly to varied stakeholders.
