Job Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight of the accounting department at Bonnie Plants and helps to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. This position manages two direct reports, a Senior Corporate Accountant and a Staff Corporate Accountant. This position reports to the Vice President of Accounting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements. Supervisor, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the accounting staff, while fostering team training and professional development. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure all financial practices align with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards. Perform analysis on monthly inventory, including review of production units, raw material consumption, labor, and overhead. Preparation of monthly COGS related entries. Oversight of state and local tax compliance, including reviewing personal property returns. Oversight of all long-term leases, equipment, and real estate. This includes capitalization of leases and monthly lease accounting. Oversight of fleet card and credit card systems. Includes on-call employee support. Work with external auditors and tax CPA firm on requests and projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of general ledger accounting. Thorough understanding of GAAP principles. Proven experience with ASC 842 Lease Accounting. Experience with ERP systems and other accounting software, such as lease software. Demonstrated analytic capability - specifically in the areas of regulations and compliance laws. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and strong capabilities with Excel. Demonstrated understanding of the business's objectives, issues, and challenges by interacting and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Master's degree in accounting, or MBA. 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2+ years in a supervisor role.

CPA. Manufacturing or agricultural background.
