About Parkway Properties Parkway Properties owns and operates a growing portfolio of express car washes throughout Alabama. We currently operate 15 locations and continue to expand through acquisitions, real estate investments, and strategic growth initiatives. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to help build and strengthen our accounting and finance function. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the CFO and gain exposure well beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, including acquisitions, debt financing, lender reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Position Overview The Accounting Manager will serve as the second-in-command of the accounting function and will be responsible for owning the monthly close process, preparing financial reporting, supervising one Accounting Specialist, and helping develop scalable processes to support continued growth. This role is ideal for a motivated accounting professional seeking a long-term growth opportunity. As the company continues to expand, there is a clear path for the right candidate to advance into a Controller position and ultimately lead the accounting function. We are less concerned with finding someone who has seen everything before and more interested in finding someone who is intelligent, takes ownership, solves problems, and wants to grow into a leadership role. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting Own and manage the monthly close process Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules Review account reconciliations and journal entries Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, and debt schedules Prepare accruals and other month-end adjustments Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors Treasury & Lender Reporting Prepare lender reporting packages and covenant calculations Support financing, refinancing, and banking initiatives Assist with cash flow monitoring and forecasting Leadership & Process Improvement Supervise and mentor one Accounting Specialist Improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures Develop scalable systems to support future growth Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function Strategic Support Assist with budgeting and forecasting Support acquisition due diligence and integration activities Participate in special projects and financial analysis Work directly with the CFO on strategic initiatives Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 4+ years of accounting experience Experience preparing financial statements and supporting schedules Strong understanding of accounting principles Advanced Excel skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Preferred CPA or CPA candidate Multi-entity accounting experience QuickBooks Online experience Experience with lender reporting, debt schedules, or covenant compliance Experience supervising or mentoring team members What Success Looks Like Within Your First 12 Months Take ownership of the monthly close process Improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy Become the primary owner of routine accounting operations Reduce the CFO's involvement in day-to-day accounting matters Develop a strong understanding of the company's operations and growth strategy Within 2-4 Years Lead the accounting department Develop scalable accounting systems and processes Support future acquisitions and growth initiatives Assume increasing responsibility for financial reporting and internal controls Be positioned to advance into the Controller role as the company grows Why Join Parkway?
