The Accounting Manager is a hands-on people leader responsible for driving performance, accountability, and operational excellence within a mid-sized team delivering full-cycle accounting services for Troon-managed facilities. This role supervises and oversees month-end close and financial reporting activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant. As the primary owner of accounting outcomes, the Accounting Manager establishes clear expectations, enforces quality standards, and actively coaches team performance. The role ensures strong internal controls, audit readiness, and operational alignment across core accounting areas including general ledger, reconciliations, cash activity and fixed assets. This position requires confident leadership, sound judgment in complex accounting matters, and the ability to develop a high-performing, accountable team while driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee client accounting operations by supervising the Accountants responsible for delivering full-cycle accounting services for Troon-managed facilities. Hire, onboard, coach, and manage the performance of a mid-sized team of accounting professionals, establishing clear expectations and accountability for quality and timeliness. Oversee month-end close and financial reporting activities, reviewing key reconciliations, journal entries, and reports prepared by the team to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant outcomes. Review and interpret complex legal, contractual, and financial documents to ensure proper accounting treatment and alignment with applicable standards. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements; serve as a technical accounting resource and escalation point for complex issues. Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and standardization initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Collaborate with finance and operational leadership to develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and service delivery strategies. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities by providing accurate financial data, variance insights, and operational context. Lead accounting transitions for newly onboarded managed facilities, ensuring smooth integration, system alignment, and adherence to Troon standards. Conduct periodic visits to managed properties and regional offices to build relationships, support onboarding and transitions, and strengthen operational alignment.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Required:
6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory capacity. Demonstrated ability to oversee complex reconciliations, financial reporting, and close-related activities with minimal oversight. Experience managing work through others in a deadline-driven, multi-entity or multi-location environment.
Preferred:
CPA certification. Experience in multi-entity accounting, shared services, or the hospitality, golf, or club management industry. Familiarity with accounting for sales tax, deferred revenue, and contract-driven revenue models.
Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft 365 suite. Solid understanding of GAAP principles, accounting transaction flows, and financial statement impacts. Ability to identify complex accounting issues, exercise sound judgment, and propose practical, compliant solutions. Strong organizational, communication, and people leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Experience working with ERP or financial systems in a multi‑entity environment; ability to quickly learn new platforms. Comfort using Excel and reporting tools to review financial results and support analysis. Experience supporting operationally complex or multi‑location organizations.
