Job Description:
CooperDouglas is partnering with a well-established real estate organization to hire a Property Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations for a multi-property portfolio. This role will lead the month-end close and financial reporting process across assigned properties while managing and reviewing work prepared by offshore accounting teams. This is a highly visible role with ownership of property-level financials and the opportunity to drive process improvements, strengthen controls, and mentor accounting resources. Ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced real estate environment and enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with team oversight. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of 15+ properties Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting Supervise and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by offshore accounting teams Oversee close timelines and ensure all reporting deadlines are met Analyze property operating results and provide variance analysis to management Partner with property management teams to resolve accounting issues, cash activity discrepancies, and tenant-related matters Review accounts payable activity to ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies Support external audits, tax reporting, and lender reporting requirements Participate in financial review meetings and provide insight into property performance and key business drivers Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting operations Assist with training, mentoring, and developing accounting staff and offshore team members Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 6+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property accounting, or multi-entity environments Prior experience leading, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting staff Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Experience managing or reviewing work performed by offshore or outsourced accounting teams preferred Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems; Yardi experience strongly preferred Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple properties, priorities, and deadlines Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with property operations and leadership teams Compensation Base salary: $145,000 + Bonus opportunity
