About the Opportunity A high-growth, publicly traded technology company is seeking a Director of Revenue Accounting to lead its global revenue accounting function. This strategic leadership role will oversee revenue recognition, reporting, compliance, and operational excellence while partnering closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across the organization. Reporting to a senior finance executive, this position will play a critical role in scaling accounting operations, driving process improvements, enhancing automation, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and public company reporting requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Revenue Accounting Leadership Lead the global revenue accounting function, including revenue recognition, revenue reserves, and cost of sales accounting. Oversee monthly and quarterly close activities related to revenue, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
(ASC 606). Manage significant accounting estimates and judgments associated with revenue recognition. Serve as the subject matter expert on complex revenue accounting matters and related business processes. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes and controls aligned with
ASC 606, SOX
requirements, and internal reporting standards. Evaluate existing systems, workflows, and controls to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and operational improvements. Partner with Finance, Sales Operations, Legal, Business Operations, and Technology teams to streamline processes and support company growth. Drive initiatives that improve the accuracy, scalability, and effectiveness of accounting operations. Reporting & Compliance Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements and public company accounting standards. Oversee preparation and review of revenue-related disclosures and supporting documentation. Coordinate internal and external audit requests, including the preparation of reports, schedules, and technical accounting analyses. Support the development and maintenance of strong internal controls over financial reporting. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing revenue accounting organization. Establish clear goals, accountability measures, and development plans for team members. Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement and professional growth. Optimize team structure and resource allocation to support organizational growth and evolving business needs. Strategic Business Partnership Collaborate with executive leadership and key stakeholders on revenue accounting, reporting, systems, and control initiatives. Analyze contractual arrangements and advise business partners on revenue recognition implications. Develop meaningful reporting, analytics, and performance metrics that provide actionable insights to leadership. Manage multiple concurrent projects while ensuring timely execution and delivery. Qualifications Required Experience 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience within public accounting and public company environments. Significant experience leading revenue accounting functions and teams. Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition and related operational processes. Experience with SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance. Demonstrated success managing accounting operations within a complex, fast-growing organization. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. CPA designation strongly preferred. Experience within technology, software, digital media, SaaS, advertising technology, or similarly complex revenue environments. Big Four public accounting background preferred.
