Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on and technically strong Manufacturing Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead the monthly close process, and deliver accurate and timely financial reporting. This role will partner closely with leadership to support business growth through scalable processes, financial insights, and operational discipline. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in operational accounting, experience in inventory-based environments (distribution or manufacturing preferred), and the ability to build and analyze consolidated financial statements in Excel sourced from an ERP system. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the monthly close process, including oversight of AP, AR, and general ledger activities Build and maintain consolidated financial statements in Excel using data extracted from an ERP system (vs. relying solely on system-generated reports) Prepare and present financial statements, variance (flux) analysis, and management reporting Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and oversee audit processes Manage and develop an accounting team (minimum 3+ staff) across AP, AR, and general accounting functions Drive process improvements and internal controls to support scalability and accuracy Oversee inventory accounting and cost-related processes in a distribution/manufacturing environment Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling Manage cash flow forecasting and financial risk assessment Support tax filings, compliance reporting, and external audits Serve as a technical accounting resource across the organization Lead or support ad hoc financial and operational projects Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate/operational accounting Proven experience managing the full GL close process in an inventory-based environment (distribution, manufacturing, or similar) Experience supervising a team of at least 3+ staff (AP/AR/accounting) Strong experience building consolidated financial statements in Excel from ERP data Experience working with a true ERP system (not QuickBooks) Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines Preferred CPA or MBA Experience with ERP implementations or system migrations Background in process improvement and scaling accounting operations Work Environment This role operates in a fast-paced, evolving environment and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. The position is primarily office-based with standard business hours, with flexibility as needed to meet deadlines.
