Job Description
Accounting Manager - GL - Contract-to-Hire Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and audit support during a transitional period. This position is primarily onsite 4 days/week and offers the potential for permanent conversion.
Responsibilities:
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses Support audit activities, including the preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure accuracy of financial records Manage accounting for specialized or restricted funds and related accounts as applicable Apply revenue recognition and other accounting standards in day-to-day operations Research and resolve technical accounting issues Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk Partner with finance leadership to enhance accounting procedures, controls, and reporting processes Support improvement of accounting systems, workflows, and operational efficiencies Oversee and guide accounting staff, ensuring quality and timely execution of responsibilities Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy of financial data and reporting
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including some public accounting exposure, preferred Strong general ledger accounting experience, including close, reconciliations, and financial reporting Experience supporting audit processes Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles Knowledge of internal controls and process improvement initiatives Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience managing or mentoring team members preferred
