Job Description
Position Summary:
The Mortgage Servicing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the mortgage servicing department within a financial institution. This role ensures efficient loan servicing processes, regulatory compliance, high-quality customer service, and effective team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong operational expertise, a deep understanding of mortgage servicing practices, and the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all aspects of mortgage loan servicing, including payment processing, escrow administration, investor reporting, and customer inquiries. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations, including applicable servicing guidelines and consumer protection laws. Monitor department performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Lead, coach, and develop a team of servicing professionals, including performance management, training, and staffing. Collaborate with internal departments such as loan origination, compliance, risk, and finance to ensure seamless operations. Handle escalated customer issues and ensure timely, professional resolution. Oversee quality control procedures and audits to maintain servicing standards and minimize risk. Prepare and present reports on servicing performance, delinquency trends, and operational metrics to senior management. Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in mortgage servicing.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage servicing or a closely related role, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities. Strong knowledge of mortgage servicing operations, escrow management, default servicing, and regulatory requirements. Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience with mortgage servicing systems and related technology platforms.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within a financial institution such as a bank or credit union. Familiarity with investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA). Professional certifications related to mortgage banking or servicing.Work Environment:
Office-based or hybrid environment, depending on organizational policy. May require extended hours during peak periods or audits.Compensation & Benefits:
