55333BR Revenue Accounting Manager General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Poway California Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. This position reports the Senior Manager of Accounting Services is responsible for managing contract revenue accounting. This role is critical in driving strategic initiatives, motivating the teams, and ensuring operational excellence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership and oversight of contract revenue accounting operations supporting United States Government, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) programs. Lead and develop a high-performing, compliance-focused, and engagement-driven contract accounting team. Ensure compliance with Accounting Standards Codification 606 (ASC 606), United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and applicable government contracting regulations. Proactively support contract capture, proposal, and award activities to achieve desired revenue recognition and financial outcomes. Review contracts, modifications, and proposals to determine appropriate accounting treatment, risk assessment, cash-flow impacts, and audit readiness. Manage revenue recognition for long-term, milestone-based, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus, and incentive-based contracts. Support accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end close, reconciliations, contract assets and liabilities, Estimate at Completion (EAC), and consolidated financial statements. Partner with Program Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Contracts, and Program Managers to monitor financial performance, forecasts, and variance analysis. Provide leadership and technical guidance to resolve financial, operational, and contract accounting challenges. Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance frameworks aligned with regulatory and company requirements. Ensure strong internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, and adherence to company financial policies and accounting practices. Support internal audits, external audits, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) reviews, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) reviews, and Risk and Control Assurance (RCA) activities with audit-defensible documentation and analysis. Drive process improvement, automation, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP) integration, and organizational change management initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial, contractual, export-controlled, and business information. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in finance/accounting. Must have experience in a commercial or government contractor environment. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education. An MBA in accounting or finance, CPA or CMA certification, major accounting firm experience, and/or experience negotiating accounting issues with government agencies is highly desirable. Experience preferred in Warranty Accounting, Offset Accounting, and/or Cost Share (e.g., research and development) Accounting. Must demonstrate a detailed application of industry and government finance/accounting management principles and practices as well as comprehensive finance/accounting leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones. Must be able to resolve complex management and finance/accounting problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be an expert in one or more finance/accounting management areas. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
