Aurora is one of three companies in Germany authorized to cultivate medical cannabis products. In May 2022, Aurora opened its first German production facility at the Chemical Park Leuna in Saxony-Anhalt. The state-of-the-art facility produces approximately 1,000 kg of dried cannabis flowers per year under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions. The company is part of the publicly listed Canadian cannabis producer Aurora Cannabis Inc., headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. Further information can be found at www.auroramedicine.com/de. At out Leuna site, we are looking for you as an Operations Finance Manager (m/f/d) to strengthen our team. The Operations Finance Manager reports to the VP of Global Finance Operations and is responsible for leading the financial function for Operations Finance, including the Leuna facilities. The role provides strategic financial guidance to support the business in achieving its financial targets and in driving overall performance and profitability. Responsibilities Financial leadership and business partnerships: Collaborate with the Supply Chain team, manufacturing site leadership, and European Finance team to ensure ownership and accountability of financial performance, while identifying process improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the full P&L and Balance Sheet statements. Manage internal financial reporting and ensure compliance with internal controls by following internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Partner with the team to ensure achievement of the overall cash flow objectives, including analyzing data to initiate improvements and cost savings.
Operational analysis:
Partner with the team to assure achievement of the overall plant objectives, including analyzing data to initiate improvements and cost savings. Present plant financials and scorecard to management. Support month-end closing and quarter-end financial activities.
Forecasting:
Manage the Budget and forecasting process, including analyzing trends and patterns, determining the impact, and making recommendations for the Site. Cost Accounting, inventory, and assets: Manage systems for current, accurate and complete accounting and reporting of job costs, overhead, inventory, controls and policies, and physical counts. Support the inventory and biological assets valuation process. Support the cost of goods sold model calculation.
Inventory Control:
Implement and enforce with the Supply team inventory control procedures, such as regular stock counts, cycle counting, and physical audits, to ensure accuracy and minimize inventory shrinkage or loss. Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and performance indicators to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory controls, including the inventory reconciliation process, excess and obsolete accruals.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for process improvement, propose solutions, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall inventory management effectiveness.
Month-end close:
Lead the month end closing and associated balance sheet management, accruals, and reconciliations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. 3+ years as a leader and financial manager with a strong operational focus (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience). Proficiency with all MS Office products including Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is required . Exceptional communication skills with the ability to deliver persuasive presentations on complex topics to increase buy-in. Creative problem-solving skills with the aptitude to make decisions quickly in fast-paced environments. Robust analytical skills with the ability to transform complex sets of data into practical solutions that drive business value. Positive team player who can build cross-functional relationships to satisfy agendas and objectives.
