Job Description:
Manager, Finance ?Accounting - Japanese Bilingual We are seeking a hands-on and business-oriented Finance & Accounting manager to join the company's North American organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role will be responsible for leading core accounting operations while establishing and enhancing FP&A capabilities to support the company's continued growth. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen and has the ability to operate as a player-coach-personally driving critical accounting processes while building scalable financial planning and performance management frameworks. Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the U.S. operations Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to headquarters and management teams Maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal requirements Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency Support cash management and treasury-related activities as needed Audit & Tax Management Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers Coordinate and manage annual audits, tax filings, and compliance-related projects Ensure adherence to regulatory, financial, and corporate governance requirements FP&A & Performance Management Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning processes Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management Design and implement KPI reporting frameworks to support business performance monitoring Build and enhance forecasting models for inventory management, cash flow, and working capital Support executive decision-making through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business performance evaluation Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership Act as a trusted business partner to the VP of Finance and senior leadership team Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve financial visibility and operational performance Provide guidance and mentorship to finance team members while maintaining a hands-on approach to execution
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, FP&A, advisory, consulting, or related functions Strong knowledge of financial accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting processes Experience leading audits and managing external advisors Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI management Strong project management and stakeholder management skills Hands-on, player-coach mentality with the willingness to operate both strategically and tactically Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment
Preferred:
Background in advisory, transaction services, accounting advisory, or management consulting Experience transitioning from accounting into FP&A or business finance roles CPA, US CPA, or equivalent accounting certification Experience working in multinational organizations and collaborating with overseas headquarters
