Job Description
Corporate Controller Confidential Public Company Stamford , CT/On-site 5 days/week A publicly traded, multi-segment financial services organization is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead all accounting operations and partner closely with the CFO. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role with immediate responsibility and strong visibility to executive leadership, the Board, and Audit Committee. This position is a backfill for a long-tenured leader and is critical to supporting a complex, evolving business with multiple operating segments and active M&A activity . Key Responsibilities Lead all corporate accounting functions, including consolidations and eliminations across multiple business segments Own SOX compliance, audit readiness, and public company reporting requirements Design and enhance segment-level P&L and reporting architecture Oversee ERP and accounting systems, including enhancements and implementations Support acquisitions and integrations, including reporting and controls Serve as a board- and audit committee-ready leader Build scalable GL and reporting structures to support future growth and divestitures Manage and develop the accounting team (Treasury Manager, Senior Accountant, and broader accounting function) Required Qualifications CPA Big 4 background Public company experience Strong SOX, consolidation, and elimination expertise M&A / acquisition accounting experience ERP / systems implementation experience Executive presence and comfort presenting to senior leadership and the Board Nice to Have Near-partner track background Experience designing multi-segment reporting models Tech-forward or AI-first mindset Experience building reporting infrastructure from the ground up Ideal Profile This role is best suited for a builder —someone with the energy to drive process, structure, and rigor during a period of change, then transition into steady-state leadership once systems are in place. Compensation Base Salary:
$200,000Target Bonus:
$150,000 (annual)Total Target Comp:
$350,000 Equity / long-term incentives planned (structure in progress) Company name will be shared during the interview process. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting.
