Job Description Unique opportunity to join a well-established vertically integrated Energy Company focused on expanding its network of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production plants and distribution facilities across North America. As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for supporting the Controller and CFO in maintaining a high-performing accounting function with strong internal controls, accurate and timely financial reporting, and scalable processes across a multi-entity structure. This role owns key components of the monthly close, reconciliations, audit readiness, and financial systems administration, and leads continuous improvement initiatives to shorten the month-end close timeline while maintaining accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, scaling organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monthly Financial Close & Reporting
- Achieve a timely and accurate monthly financial close within 5 business days, with final issuance to the Board on the 7th business day, including variance analysis and KPI metric updates. (Until the new ERP is implemented, monthly close target to the Board is within 10 business days.)
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for management, including narrative insights and variance explanations. KPI Dashboard & Executive Reporting
- Build and maintain a KPI dashboard for monthly reporting; coordinate with Executives to validate inputs and ensure accuracy. Financial Systems Administration & Internal Controls
- Maintain the financial system(s) and implement/maintain internal controls to ensure a strong financial control environment.
- Ensure appropriate user roles/access, segregation of duties, and proper period open/close governance to prevent posting errors. Audit & Quality of Earnings
- Support annual audit activities to achieve clean audits with no findings; coordinate schedules, requests, and deliverables.
- Track late/unusual entries; assess proper period cut-off and materiality.
- Re-open periods (with Controller approval) to post correcting entries when necessary and summarize monthly impact for the Controller and CFO. Monthly Reconciliations
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly reconciliations and document the review/approval process.
- Ensure each consolidating entity's balance sheet has complete account reconciliations with supporting documentation stored on the shared drive. Continuous Improvement (Close Acceleration & Process Excellence)
- Lead continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures to reduce month-end close cycle time while maintaining accuracy and strong internal controls.
- Identify bottlenecks, standardize workflows, and improve documentation (close calendar, checklists, templates, and SOPs).
- Drive automation and efficiency using appropriate tools (e.g., Excel, Power Automate, Power BI, AI tools) and implement practical solutions that scale with company growth.
- Partner with the Controller, CFO, and cross-functional leaders to strengthen reporting cadence, improve data quality, and enhance visibility into financial performance. Other Software Implementations
- Take a lead role in identifying and implementing software solutions to create efficiencies.
- Optimize tools for the Accounting team such as Microsoft Office (Power Automate, Power BI, AI tools, etc.) where appropriate. Project Accounting & Job Costing
- Ensure proper project accounting and job costing along with customer profitability reporting in coordination with Operations and FP&A. Annual Budgets/Forecasts
- Load the budget into the financial system once approved by the Board.
- Monitor against actuals and perform concise yet cohesive variance explanations, including walks for ease of understanding of assigned areas, including cash. Cash Forecasting & Working Capital
- Partner well with FP&A to assist in achieving solid and accurate monthly forecasting at the account level as well as 13-week cash flow forecasting.
- Help manage cash efficiently to ensure the company always has sufficient working capital to run the business. Technical Accounting
- Assist in researching complex accounting issues, including consolidation, construction contracts, capitalization of expenses, revenue recognition, etc.
- Prepare technical accounting memos and maintain an internal index/library for internal use. Tax
- File sales and use tax, property tax, excise tax, VETC, and other compliance activities as assigned. Communication

- Provide clear communication, verbally and in writing, to make an effective impact on the Company. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (multi-entity experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated success driving a timely monthly close and delivering accurate reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Advanced Excel skills; strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional partners and executives.
- High integrity, strong ownership mindset, and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
- Experience accelerating month-end close through standardization and automation.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial system administration (roles, permissions, workflows).
- Experience in energy, construction, project-based, or infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Power BI, Power Automate, or other workflow automation tools.
- Experience supporting audits with no findings and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition, job costing, consolidation, and technical accounting documentation. Core Competencies
