Job DescriptionJob Description About Us The Heights Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit, community development and educational organization dedicated to building strong, self-sufficient families in the Harlem Heights neighborhood. We pride ourselves on financial integrity, transparency, and operational efficiency. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Finance Manager to lead our financial reporting, compliance, and vendor management functions. Position Summary The Finance Manager will oversee all internal and external financial audits, ensure the timely preparation of monthly financial statements, and manage the annual IRS Form 990 filings. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing the organization's commercial/liability insurance portfolio and negotiating vendor contracts to optimize costs.
Key Responsibilities Audit & Tax Compliance:
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of annual audits. Oversee the preparation and filing of IRS Form 990, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analysis. Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.Insurance Management:
Manage all corporate commercial and liability insurance policies, including renewal negotiations and risk assessment.Vendor Negotiations:
Negotiate, review, and maintain contracts with external vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and high-quality services.Internal Controls:
Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and policies to ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. CPA or MBA preferred.Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with proven experience in audit preparation and IRS 990 filing.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.Negotiation:
Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.Details:
